TCD NAHTF Grant Application
May 7, 2020
Twin Cities Development is seeking public input on a grant application for Nebraska Affordable Housing Trust Funds.
TCD is requesting $600,000 in NAHTF grant funds to convert a portion of unused space at Northfield Apartments (the former Med Center when operated by Northfield Retirement Center). This unused, vacant space is being proposed to convert to 14 independent apartments for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities for the western Nebraska region. This is a much-needed service in the area for families that have adult children that could live independently. It allows them to realize independence while having a built-in network for socialization and events, yet they can stay close to family members in the community. The majority of the total project costs of $885,000 will be spent on the rehab of the property, including new electrical, fire system, new HVAC, new plumbing connections, new layout with new drywall, cabinets, flooring, doors, and trim. Other project costs include site work, architect fees, management, and developer costs. The TCD board has allocated $200,000 to the project and the community has been very supportive with $85,000 in donation commitments from Platte Valley Bank, Oregon Trail Community Foundation, Western Nebraska Housing Opportunities, and First State Bank.
The full application is available upon request or at the TCD offices at 1620 Broadway, Scottsbluff, NE for inspection.
