DESCRIPTION:GERING\, Neb. — The Don Childs Memorial 5 Mile Run returns to Oregon Trail Days on Friday\, July 10\, 2026\, with a 7 a.m. start in downtown Gering. First run in 1972\, the out-and-back course climbs toward Scotts Bluff National Monument Visitor Center before a downhill return. How to register: Pre-register (recommended): download the entry form on the Events calendar at oregontraildays.com (under Friday\, July 10). Fee is $20. T-shirt guarantee: pre-register by Friday\, June 26\, 2026. Race-day: on-site registration opens 6 a.m. at the start line\, 1447 10th Street\, closing just before the 7 a.m. start.
