Text Box: During the week of February 24th, TCD played host to two separate out-of-state businesses looking at expansion projects.
One of the companies is Minnesota-based and buys excess computer inventory from manufacturers, leasing companies and large corporations. These units are either reconfigured into customized systems that are then marketed to corporate clients or broken down into individual parts that are sold to other companies who service computers.
Twin Cities Development was one of 79 communities that put in a proposal for this project, and our community was one of only three communities the company narrowed down for a visit. The other communities were in Virginia and Texas.
Text Box: This company’s business has grown significantly, even during the current recession. Many corporate clients, as well as schools, government and medical facilities are looking at ways to reduce costs, and upgrading their current equipment and refurbishing is much more cost-effective than purchasing all new equipment.
This company works with several of the computer giants, including Compaq and Hewlett Packard, as well as other corporate clients, such as Lockheed Martin and Siemens.
The founder & owner was recently named by the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal as one of the “Top 40 Under 40.” This selection was based not only on business accomplishments, but community involvement as well. The founder takes a lot of pride in Text Box: his company’s quality and reputation. He has built a solid reputation with his suppliers, offering a high quality product and very reliable service. He stocks a large inventory and responds to his customers’ needs quickly.
If the company chooses to relocate in our community, they hope to hire in excess of 100 employees in the first year of operation.

Text Box: Twin Cities Development was faced with many challenges last year, and in the midst of reorganization, TCD may have received mixed reviews from the community, but with a new Board of Directors and a new Executive Text Box: Director, TCD has come full circle.
2002 saw the development of an ongoing relationship with area businesses, as well as the addition of the communities of Bayard and Mitchell to TCD’s membership Text Box: base.
The Business Expansion and Retention Survey conducted by TCD and the Nebraska Department of Economic Development revealed that many local businesses would like to expand if Text Box: TCD HOSTS BUSINESS VISITS
