Text Box: Monument Shadows Golf Course in Gering was filled to capacity Thursday, May 23rd, as Twin Cities Development hosted its first ever Annual Appreciation Mixer.  Representatives from the business community, both member and nonmember, were invited for  refreshments, drawings for prizes, and a brief presentation by the newly installed Executive Director.
Approximately 100 guests attended the Mixer.  Door prizes included golf balls, a potted plant, a Monument Shadows jacket, and a Gift Certificate for $100 toward a new Membership with Twin Cities Development.  
The TCD Board of Directors was introduced and a special thanks went out to Gary Hall for his leadership during his tenure as Interim Director.
Text Box: TCD Board President, Bob Unzicker, said that the Mixer was a nice way to show appreciation for the existing businesses we have in the Valley and invite new businesses to join TCD’s efforts in economic development.

Mayor Carol Hendren and City Manager Ty Abernethy recently presented TCD with a check for membership in the organization.  The City of Bayard joined earlier this year.
TCD hopes to expand its membership base beyond the borders of Scottsbluff and Gering. Bayard and Mitchell leaders have shown great  foresight in recognizing  the “team concept”  & benefits to everyone.
“The more we work together, the more we can accomplish,” states TCD Executive Director .
TCD’s vision for the organization and for the communities in the Valley is to work toward the goal of  unity.
One Community, One Voice is how Scottsbluff, Gering, Terrytown, Bayard, Mitchell & other communities will be perceived.

Upcoming Business Retention & Expansion Survey
Text Box: 	The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (NDED) is partnering with Twin Cities Development on the Department’s upcoming “Business Retention & Expansion Survey.”  Approximately 50 local businesses from Scottsbluff, Gering, Bayard & Mitchell will be visited and interviewed by volunteer teams in late July/early August with the help of Western Team Consultant, Suzanne Browne of Gering and several NDED employees across the state.
Text Box: 	In June 1999, Governor Mike Johanns and Al Wenstrand of the NDED began the “Nebraska Visitation Program” to survey businesses and identify opportunities and challenges they face.  Information from the survey  can be used by state and local developers to formulate expansion & retention strategies.
	Survey results will be entered into a NDED database and presented to the community.  Community results will also be compiled with other Nebraska
