Tourists generate more sales tax revenue with every dollar they spend, and the Gering Convention & Visitors Bureau promotes tourism in Gering, such as the Robidoux RV Park and Five Rocks Amphitheater.  Because the tax is paid by anyone who purchases items, it is paid by everyone, not just Gering property owners.

 

Twin Cities Development encourages Gering Citizens to vote on May 11, 2004.

    On May 11, 2004 the renewal of the 1% City Sales Tax will be on

    Gering’s ballot.  Gering has had this 1% City Sales Tax for 14 years.

    The renewal of the City Sales Tax will be for 6 years.

 

    About 7 Million Dollars has been generated over the last 14 years

    from this 1% City Sales Tax.  The money generated is used for Prop

    erty Tax Relief, Downtown Redevelopment, and Tourism.

 

    City property tax in Gering has declined or stayed level since the

    City Sales Tax was approved in 1990.  More than $1,750,000 of this

    City Sales Tax has directly benefited property owners in Gering by

    way of Property Tax Relief.  Downtown redevelopment funds are

    used for improvements in downtown Gering, such as the Gering Civic

   Center.
