Low cost housing facilities
in Scottsbluff include the 50 unit R.C. Scott Apartments, built in 1974,
the 32 unit Lorraine Apartments, built in 1978, the 32 unit Carol Ann
Apartments, built in 1980, and the Rebecca Winters Apartments, with
54 units, built in 1981 by the Scottsbluff Housing Authority.
Retirement apartments in
the area include Dome Rock Manor, built in Gering in 1972, with 41 units
and Bluff View Manor in nearby Terrytown. Built in 1969 with 32 units,
an additional 24 units were added in 1982.
Northfield Villa,
Inc., a nonprofit company, owns and operates two retirement
facilities. Northfield Villa in Gering opened in 1974 and currently
offers 145 apartments. The Residency in Scottsbluff
opened in 1993 and offers 94 apartments. Both facilities offer life
care, with 24-hour licensed nursing and worry-free apartment dwelling.
The purchase of a Life Care contract assures residents with a need that
they will receive low-cost skilled nursing care for the rest of their
lives.
The Village At Regional
West is a retirement community for independent adults 55 years
of age or older and is located just east of Regional West Medical Center
in Scottsbluff. This facility has 100 independent and dependent living
apartments that provide residents with three levels of care. Meals,
basic housekeeping, and laundry services are available for those who
require them, and pets are allowed in designated apartments. The Village
does not require endowments, buy-ins, or entrance fees of any kind.
Residents simply lease private apartment homes and pay monthly rent
that includes utilities, maintenance, and full use of the common facilities.
Western Nebraska Veteran’s Home
is a division of the Nebraska Department of Health & Human Services
System. The home is licensed for 50 skilled beds and 90 residential
care beds. Those eligible for admission include veterans, veterans'’wives
or widows, and Gold Star Parents. Application for admission is made
through the Scotts Bluff County Veteran’s Service officers. The
facility is committed to quality of life, by providing the services
of a physician, pharmacist, dentist, and dietician, as well as speech,
occupational, and physical therapy. Other medical and religious needs
are available, as well as select menus and varied activities.
