Launched in 1990 by Dr. John Harms, President of Western Nebraska Community College (WNCC), in Scottsbluff. 

His mission focuses on arts for the community. 

Local actors/singers/musicians are cast in side-by-side roles with young, professional actors for each production. 

Each summer Theatre West presents 26 productions of three separate plays, a library production, and a "Theatre Opportunity for Youth Camp." 

Theatre West also writes and produces an original play each summer, which is performed at 20 Panhandle libraries.
